Plumpton Athletic 2nd 5 - 2 Fletching    2nd April 2005

Going into the close season, Fletching knew they still had a chance of promotion, despite some disappointing recent results, a quirk of the fixture list giving them opportunities to take points from all their close promotion rivals. With Horley, Plumpton and Willingdon all facing one another in the final few games, if results went their way, Fletching could yet snatch second place. Andy Gray and his Sky Sports team were there to cover this vital "6 pointer".

But Fletching fans who had made the long journey to Plumpton, hoping to see a repeat of the thrashing dealt out earlier in the season, were to leave despondant, with their team bending over to recieve rather than deal the beating. Unfortunately, I've left this report so late I can't remember much about the game, except for a first half strike by Ian and a second half lob from Ross, so sorry about that.

Needless to say, the 5 - 2 defeat left Fletching's promotion hopes in tatters, and the team contemplating another year in division 4.
